FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What exactly is coverage used for?

Script coverage is a resource utilized by nearly every studio, production company, and talent agency as a way to assess and grade screenplays. Producers and agents typically employ lower-level script readers to perform script coverage to filter out good scripts from the thousands that get sent to them annually. However, these coverage reports are used internally and are often not given back to writers.

We can provide your script with a coverage report similar to what you might expect a producer to read. This is an excellent resource for writers to have their material “pre-screened” before they submit their scripts to various screenplay competitions or prior to sending their scripts to production companies or talent agencies.

I feel like my script is too long. How long should my script be?

By rule of thumb, a script’s page count can be equated to its screen-time in minutes. So if your script is 120 pages, you can expect your film to be about 2 hours long. Depending on the genre, it is recommended that your script to be somewhere within 93-120 pages. Finding ways to reduce page count is a common struggle for writers and although we do not accept scripts longer than 140 pages, we will identify and address potential ways you can shorten your script without losing important set pieces.

Is there any specific format that my script should be WRITTEN in?

Yes. There are several online resources and screenplay programs that can help you correctly format your script.  Fundamentally all screenplays should have the same basic structural format. Although there is no exact, agreed-upon industry standard when it comes to specific and minor formatting details. We will help clean up any formatting issues and provide detailed formatting explanations and suggestions.

Will Fatal Funnel Films offer to buy my script?

No. We are a team of writers and producers and we have our own material that we are striving to push and bring into production. However, we will give your script an honest and professional assessment.

If I send you my script, what reassurances will I have that it will be safe?

We ABSOLUTELY will not repurpose or distribute your script in any fashion. Please see legal disclaimer.
